Yacht Charter and Boat Rentals in El Arenal
Yacht Charter El Arenal
On an El Arenal yacht charter with Borrow a Boat you can explore much of Mallorca and the Balearic Islands within a fairly easily covered sailing area. Whatever you want from a Majorca yacht charter, from its beautiful beaches to its fantastic culture, an El Arenal sailing holiday is going to be an unforgettable experience.
On the eastern end of the Bay of Palma on the Balearic island of Mallorca, El Arenal is a village that has merged with a number of others in a contiguous beachfront development that stretches the 6km of the Playa de Palma beach.
While much of Mallorca's holiday resorts are family oriented, S'Arenal is favoured by the 18-30 crowd. That means all night partying and grey faced youngsters emerging onto the beach at around lunchtime to start pushing their bodies to the limits until the following dawn.
Whether or not that is quite your style, El Arenal has the benefit of being just 14km from central Palma and is just 7km from the island's international airport. If looking for something a little more relaxed is your aim, it is easily found from a short taxi ride away from the crammed beaches and wild nights of the main town - the nearby sandy beach of Cala Blava is outside of hungover stumble reach, and a chance to have some space in some peace.
Good restaurants, quiet coves and a chance to chill out is not far away - even taking a day charter out of the marina can take you along the coast to find a quiet spot to enjoy world.

Explore El Arenal By Renting A Yacht
On your luxury yacht charter or bareboat charter motor boat or sailing boat, you'll find the north, east, south and west coasts of Mallorca are very different yet accessible on a Mallorca yacht charter.
Leaving S'Arenal and heading west, you'll soon sail past the capital, Palma de Mallorca and its excellent shopping, bars, restaurants and culture. Further along the south coast, the sophisticated resorts of Puerto Portals and Puerto Andratx where the rich and famous leave their superyacht and head inland to their villas.
The west coast of Mallorca by contrast is extremely mountainous with just the port of Soller between Andratx on the SW tip and Puerto Pollenca on the NW tip. That makes for some longer legs on your motor yacht or sailing yacht, perhaps headed out to Menorca on your sailing trip.
The north coast with the ports of Puerto Pollenca and Alcudia Bay have mountainous interiors but beautiful beaches and a relaxed family vibe at the resorts - a world away from that of El Arenal! Surfing can be done at the beaches of Cala Ratjada with its excellent, clean surf.
The east coast of Majorca, with charming towns like Cala Figuera, Cala d'Or and Portocolom makes it a great place to explore on your charter yacht, whether on a day charter or longer. The Cala Mondrago National Park is a must-visit with its sand dunes, pine forests and beautiful beach.
Just to the SW of Mallorca is the Cabrera Island archipelago. This can be accessed with a permit only, but is worthy of a day charter boat trip if you can get aboard a tourist boat thanks to this protected national park being so beautiful.
Less than a day's sail away to the west from Palma is the hippy island of Ibiza and neigbouring Formentera with your choice of secluded coves, riotous partying and beautiful beaches and an alternative culture that rivals Glastonbury or San Francisco.

7 days - Majorca, Ibiza and Formentera: Here is a chance to enjoy some serious nightlife. Your shakedown cruise will be into Palma itself for a cosmopolitan fix at least as good as Barcelona. South West to San Antonio on Ibiza for some world class clubbing. Es Pujols on the small Balearic island of Formentera can seem a bit sleepy by day but you can swim in the turquoise water and chill on the beautiful beaches of the island before it wakes up at night! Enjoy the Belearic Islands' nightspot secret before heading over to Ibiza Town for another night of fun. Back to Mallorca for a fairly relaxed evening in Cala Figuera on the east coast of the island. S'Arenal will be the destination of your final day's sailing for handover the next day.
Best Times To Hire A Yacht In El Arenal
The sailing season in the Balearic Islands is best from May to October. The major party towns heat up to full frenzy in June to August, and so do the prices. It is very much down to what you want from a sailing holiday in the islands - if partying all night is on the cards, the top DJs will hit the region in that time and you will have quite a memorable time. If the quiet life is what you seek, then do try to get out during term time - the sea is still warm in September and October, though the infamous Tramontana starts to be more frequent at this time of year, as it eases off in early May.
Sailing Weather In El Arenal
The NE breeze common to coastal Mediterranean France dominates Majorca, a cool relief from the summer heat. It never really gets above 17 knots or so so there will be some boisterous sailing but never more than is fun. You will see more precipitation towards the beginning and end of the sailing season (May and October) but the temperatures rarely stray below 15-17 degrees during those times. In the height of summer (July/August) it isn't as hot as mainland Spain, though you will see the odd few days in the 30+ C range. For Northern Europeans and those from other cooler climes this makes for fantastic sailing!
What should I consider when hiring a Yacht or Boat?
The main points to consider are what is your budget, have you got the necessary sailing experience and qualifications to manage the boat if it's not going to have a skipper, whom you are taking sailing, where exactly you wish to go and what will the weather be like on the proposed dates of your trip.

If you are at sea and in danger, call MAYDAY on VHF Ch16 or ring the coast guard on your phone if you have reception. If you have a mechanical fault and can make it to, or are on a mooring you will be able to phone a help line number given by the boat charter company.
