Guide To Sailing In Vodice

Vodice is a small town on the Adriatic Coast almost exactly between Split and Zadar.

Inhabited since pre-historic times, there are relics in the town from the Roman era as an important trading post of the region. Today you will see several churches from different points of history that include the striking Church of St Cross that was built in 1746 and the 17th Century Church of our Lady of Carmel. The Coric Tower is now an important attraction though it is too unstable to go inside - but forms an important landmark in a very beautiful and many say romantic town.

Today as a modern popular tourist destination you will find lots of konobas (Croatian pubs) in Vodice that serve traditional Croat cuisine with a Mediterranean flavour. Where it comes to beaches, these are gravel or pebble beaches but the likes of Blue Beach have excellent water quality and facilities such as children's play areas and showers. The pine forest locally reaches right down to the beaches, giving you a scented respite from the sun. Thanks to its location, Vodice is an ideal place to begin your Croatia yacht charter.

Explore Vodice By Renting A Yacht

A Vodice yacht charter is easily sorted out from start to finish - on a bareboat yacht charter you need to present your sailingqualifications, pay the security deposit, inspect the boat and off you go! On a captained or crewed yacht charter it really is a case of turn up, meet your charter company and find your cabin!

In Vrulje Cove, ACI Marina Vodice has some of the best water quality of any marina on the Adriatic Coast and has the European Blue Flag for its water cleanliness. It is also a hub for sailing charters and luxury motor yacht charters.

Vodice is almost the best place for a perfect yacht vacation in Croatia. After perhaps exploring the beautiful small town, the choice is yours where you want to go on your yacht cruise! To the south you could get to Trogir or Split to the south or as far as Zadar or even Opatija to the north. Just to the south of Vodice is Sibenik and access up the Krka River to the inland Krka national park. If you are on a luxury superyacht you may find yourself mooring at Sibenik and perhaps blasting up the bay on a tender to get to Vodice - a worthy destination for a day away from your luxury bubble!

The islands to the west are a favorite of sailing boat charters heading out of Vodice. The larger island of Murter is nearby - sparsely populated but a nice introduction to the Croatian islands. Beyond is the Kornati Islands. These are uninhabited for much of the year but at the settlement of Vrulje you will find that if you dock at a restaurant quay you don't have to pay national park fees to stay there.

How To Get To Vodice

Vodice is almost equidistant between Split Airport and Zadar International Airport.

Split Airport is one of the most important tourist airports in Croatia and has flights from all over Europe and other regions of the world. You can either rent a car or take a bus to get to Vodice from there - do remember that you will have to take a bus to Split Bus Station and connect to a long distance bus onward to Vodice from there.

Zadar International Airport takes a number of international flights daily during the summer months from a number of European cities. To get to Vodice you then have to take a bus - as with Split, this is roughly 120km or 90 minutes.
