Discover the wonderful Pearl Islands archipelago, internationally recognized for its incredible amount and diversity of marine wildlife, considered one of the best sport fishing spots in the world. It is also known as a site for humpback whale pairing and turtle nesting.
The archipelago has more than 140 islands and islets, many of them uninhabited. Every island offers a specialty of its own; ones have better reefs to snorkel, others white sandy beaches. With the Pacific’s extreme tidal changes, many of these beaches come out exclusively at low tide.
The main recommended islands to visit are: Contadora island (main island with some development), Chapera, Saboga, Bartolome, Chapera and Mogo Mogo within others. Contadora which is the main island, offers many facilities like airport, hotels, restaurants and even houses to rent and prolong your stay if interested.
The Archipelago has a most interesting history, owing its name to the abundance of pearls that existed in the area during the period of Spanish rule. The famous "Pilgrim" pearl was found in this area, owned by the Spanish King Philip II and also owned by actress Elizabeth Taylor. Contadora was said to be used by the Spanish conquistadors as a stop for doing inventory of booty prior returning to Spain, hence the name (contador means counter or bookkeeper in Spanish). It was also the exile site of the Shah of Iran in 1979. In modern times, the archipelago has become a popular location for several international editions of the reality "Survivor".
In addition to visiting the islands, there are excellent fishing spots both within the archipelago as well as in the way towards it at open sea, for example, the famous Twenty Fathom trench. You’ll be targeting Dolphin fish (Mahi Mahi), Tuna, Tuna bonita, spanish mackerel, snapper, Jack Crevalle, among others. At the islands feel free to choose between various activities like whale watching (season from June to November), island hopping, snorkeling or just cruising.
The 35 nautical mile cruise from Panama City the first islands of the Pearl Islands takes about 1 hour and a half, time during which you can do some Trolling or even see dolphins while they "surf" at the boat's bow.

The timing depends on your charter type. For crewed charters, we can provide the captain's contact details upon request. For bareboat charters with a hired skipper, you can request the contact information 1-3 weeks before departure.
What is the Charter Fee?
The Charter Fee is an additional, obligatory cost, which typically includes the end cleaning of the boat, home port fees, and linen & towels. The details of the charter fee differ depending on the boat, location and charter partner.
Are there any other costs I should be aware of?
There are marina fees and fuel costs which vary depending on the type, duration and location of your sailing holiday. Marina fees need to be paid at each marina you choose to dock overnight - the amount varies but you may be able to find this information in advance by contacting the marinas directly. Fuel costs depend on whether you’re sailing a motorboat or a sailboat. You can estimate fuel costs by double-checking your chosen boat’s engine, and the expected distance you aim to sail.
