The Tombs of the Kings are one of the most spectacular ancient sites you can visit. St. Hilarion Castle is a fort that has remained from the times when the Crusaders arrived on the island.

Rent a sailboat in Cyprus

Pros of renting a sailboat in Cyprus

A sailboat rental in Cyprus gives you the flexibility and freedom to do whatever you want. As sailboats are powered by the wind, you don’t have to worry about getting close to a marina to refuel in regular intervals. After all, there is a reason why sailboats are so popular amongst sailors who want to sail across the globe.

A sailboat hire in Cyprus probably also means that you care about the environment. Sailboats are generally more environmentally friendly than other boats, because they are solely fueled by the wind and don’t produce additional CO2-emissions.

Another pro related to the wind is that a sailboat charter in Cyprus is one of the cheapest ways to spend a boat holiday around the island. The bareboat charter is relatively affordable and you don’t need to worry about spending extra money on fuel.

Cons of renting a sailboat in Cyprus

One of the downsides of a sailboat charter in Cyprus can indeed be the fact that sailboats only run on wind. This might mean that you get stuck in the middle of the sea when the wind suddenly stops blowing. All you can do then is wait patiently for the wind to pick back up again. Many modern sailboats have a small engine for emergencies, but they are definitely not made for longer distances.

Rent a catamaran in Cyprus

Pros of renting a catamaran in Cyprus

A catamaran rental in Cyprus is perfect for anyone who wants to relax at the stunning beaches you can find on the island. As catamarans have a shallow draft, you can easily sail closer to the shore and therefore have easy access to these beautiful gems.

Rent a catamaran in Cyprus if you prefer to spend a boat holiday in true style and comfort. Catamarans are generally bigger than other types of boats and therefore offer more space on deck and bigger bedrooms. You won’t actually feel like sleeping on board a boat, but rather like sleeping in a hotel room.

A catamaran hire in Cyprus is a great choice for anyone who prefers to be more flexible when sailing. With a catamaran you get both a sail and an engine. You can sail with the winds if they are strong enough or simply use the engine when they are not. At least you won’t ever get stuck in the middle of the sea should the wind suddenly stop blowing. A huge advantage over other boats!

Cons of renting a catamaran in Cyprus

One of the downsides of a catamaran charter in Cyprus is the fact that they are quite big. This doesn’t just come with difficulties of finding a spot for mooring at the marinas that is big enough, but also means that you will probably have to pay extra. The bigger the boat, the higher the price for mooring.

Another downside of renting a catamaran in Cyprus is the fact that catamarans are lighter than other boats. This could slow them down quite a bit. It’s nothing major, but should be kept in mind if you plan on going somewhere very fast.

What kind of boat licence do you need when renting a boat in Cyprus?

Anyone who wants to rent a speedboat in Cyprus can do so without a licence if they are over 21 years of age and complete a mandatory 30-minute Safety and Driving Instructions course. This is great, because you can enjoy a day out on a boat without having to obtain a boat licence.

If you plan on renting a self-drive boat that is up to 10 metres long, you can do so if you are over the age of 18 and carry a valid car driving licence.
