Ghimar is a 1972 Grand Banks 50, built by American Marine. She is one of the last wooden Grand Banks of her generation, built before production transitioned to fiberglass. A rare yacht full of character, with an instantly recognizable silhouette, Ghimar was completely repowered in 2021 with two 350 HP Caterpillar C7.1 engines.

Ghimar is available for both private day charters (€2,250 per trip) and multi-day cruises. In addition to day trips departing from Marseille, we also offer extended cruises with overnight stays on board for up to 6 guests throughout the Mediterranean. These longer charters allow you to fully enjoy life at sea, with itineraries, stopovers, and anchorages tailored to your preferences and the weather conditions. Multi-day charter rates are available upon request and are customized according to the duration, itinerary, and level of service required.

On board, you'll enjoy four separate living areas: the aft cockpit, the interior saloon, the foredeck, and the flybridge. The yacht comfortably accommodates up to 24 guests, giving everyone plenty of space to relax without feeling crowded—one of the aspects our guests appreciate most.

The yacht is exclusively reserved for your private group. Departure times, cruising schedule, and swimming stops are entirely tailored to your wishes, and you will not share the boat with anyone else. Day charters last up to 6 hours, departing from Marseille's Old Port. Depending on your preferences and sea conditions, your itinerary may include the Bay of Marseille, the Frioul Islands, and beautiful sheltered anchorages for swimming. Your professional skipper is fluent in both French and English and knows the hidden spots that don't appear on the maps.

Ghimar is perfect for private events such as birthdays, bachelor or bachelorette parties, corporate outings, family gatherings, or simply a memorable day with friends. The yacht is also available for photo shoots and audiovisual productions.

Security deposit

A refundable $1,194 security deposit will have to be paid at check-in. Like car rentals, boat charters require a refundable security deposit to cover accidental damage. The amount varies by boat model and is returned after inspection if no damage is found.

Insurance

This boat is managed by a professional charter company with comprehensive insurance. Your liability for damages is limited to the security deposit. For added peace of mind, you can protect your deposit by purchasing deposit insurance.

When can I get in touch with the captain/skipper?

The timing depends on your charter type. For crewed charters, we can provide the captain's contact details upon request. For bareboat charters with a hired skipper, you can request the contact information 1-3 weeks before departure.

What is the Charter Fee?

The Charter Fee is an additional, obligatory cost, which typically includes the end cleaning of the boat, home port fees, and linen & towels. The details of the charter fee differ depending on the boat, location and charter partner.

Are there any other costs I should be aware of?

There are marina fees and fuel costs which vary depending on the type, duration and location of your sailing holiday. Marina fees need to be paid at each marina you choose to dock overnight - the amount varies but you may be able to find this information in advance by contacting the marinas directly. Fuel costs depend on whether you’re sailing a motorboat or a sailboat. You can estimate fuel costs by double-checking your chosen boat’s engine, and the expected distance you aim to sail.
