I damaged the boat - what now?

Accidents happen, however careful you are. If you damage the boat during your trip, report it to the boat owner or the base manager as soon as possible.

What happens next

The boat owner or base manager tells you what to do. For example, if you tear a sail and it needs repairing before you can sail on, they can point you to the nearest marina that can fix it. Keep the invoice for every repair.

At check-out

If you did not report the damage, or if the base manager or diver finds damage that was not reported, they write a damage report. You need this report for insurance.

If you have deposit insurance

Your insurer will ask for the signed damage report and the invoices for any repairs you paid for. Keep all documents related to the damage. More about deposit insurance: What additional insurance should I purchase for my boat rental or yacht charter?
