Why is Corfu the best choice for a family catamaran holiday?

What is the best sailing route for a catamaran departing from Corfu?
The classic southern route to the islands of Paxos and Antipaxos is highly recommended. A catamaran’s shallow draft is perfect for anchoring in the famous turquoise waters of Voutoumi Beach, which are often compared to the Caribbean.
Is Gouvia Marina a good base for a bareboat catamaran charter?
Yes, Gouvia Marina is one of the best-equipped facilities in Greece, offering full technical support and easy provisioning. It serves as a secure and professional starting point for exploring the lush, green coastline of the Emerald Isle.

The sailing season runs from May to October, with July and August offering the warmest waters. For a quieter experience with perfect sailing breezes, the shoulder months of June and September are ideal for an Ionian yacht charter.

  • The Magic of Paxos & Antipaxos: Sailing south from Corfu brings you to Paxos and Antipaxos. These tiny islands boast some of the most striking turquoise waters in the world. A catamaran’s shallow draft allows you to drop anchor close to the beach, far closer than any monohull can reach.
  • Venetian Charm & Mainland Gems: From Corfu, you have the unique option to sail across to the Greek mainland coast. The picturesque harbor of Parga offers incredible, protected anchorages with vibrant waterfront dining.
  • Ultimate Comfort: The Ionian Sea lacks ocean swells, meaning your catamaran will remain perfectly flat at anchor. This guarantees absolute comfort for dining and sleeping.
Captain’s Insider Tip: The Passage to Paxos “The sail from southern Corfu across to Paxos is an open-water crossing that can occasionally catch a mild southerly swell. A catamaran handles this beautifully, keeping your crew relaxed. Try to cross in the morning when the wind is calmest!”
