Boat charter in Caribbean

Charter a Catamaran in the Caribbean

Charter a catamaran in the Caribbean and sail between three major sailing zones: the Windwards and Grenadines for protected anchorages and downwind runs, the British Virgin Islands for shallow-draft island-hopping and wreck dives, or the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico for longer crossings and established marina networks. Choose your base — Grenada, Bequia, Tortola, or San Juan — and plan routes around the winter trade winds, island spacing and your crew's experience. With 750+ catamarans across the region, you'll find the right hull for high-performance sailing or crewed bareboat comfort.

Frequently Asked Questions: Catamaran Charter in the Caribbean

Why is a catamaran the best choice for exploring the Caribbean?
Catamarans provide the perfect balance of luxury and space. They offer a stable platform for socialising and sunbathing, making them the premier choice for those looking to explore islands like the Bahamas or the Grenadines with maximum comfort.
Can I visit both St. Vincent and the Grenadines on a catamaran rental?
Absolutely. The short crossings between the islands of the Grenadines are perfect for a catamaran. You can enjoy the open-sea views with minimal heeling, ensuring everyone stays comfortable during the journey.
Do I need a license for a bareboat catamaran in the Caribbean?
Yes, a valid international sailing certificate or a detailed sailing resume is required for bareboat rentals. Alternatively, hiring a professional skipper is a popular option to ensure you discover the most secluded bays and best snorkeling spots.
Is a catamaran suitable for groups or families in the Caribbean?
Yes, catamarans are designed for space and privacy, typically featuring 4 to 6 private cabins. This makes them the ideal yacht rental choice for large families or groups of friends seeking a premium tropical holiday.
When is the best time for a catamaran holiday in the Caribbean?
The primary season runs from December to April, offering perfect weather and reliable winds. The "shoulder" months of May and June are also excellent for those looking for quieter anchorages before the hurricane season.

Why Rent a Catamaran in the Caribbean?

Unmatched Stability: Twin hulls mean no leaning underway and a peaceful, flat platform at anchor, ensuring everyone on board feels relaxed while enjoying a sunset rum punch.

  • Shallow Draft: Access the most beautiful, shallow anchorages like Anegada or the Tobago Cays, and drop your hook right over the sandy bottom.
  • Expansive Living Space: Enjoy panoramic views from the saloon, massive lounging nets on the bow, and a spacious cockpit perfect for dining al fresco in the warm trade winds.
Captain’s Insider Tip: The Trade Winds “The Caribbean trade winds provide spectacular sailing, but the Atlantic swell between islands can sometimes be lively. A catamaran’s stability makes these open-water crossings incredibly comfortable. Always book your mooring balls in marine parks well in advance!”
