What are optional extras?

Updated 30 September 2026 · 1 min read

Optional extras are services or items you can add to your boat rental if you want them. What is on offer depends on the charter company.

Common optional extras

  • an outboard engine for the dinghy
  • stand-up paddleboards (SUPs)
  • kayaks
  • towels and bed linen
  • early check-in
  • a damage waiver, which lowers your security deposit (see What is a damage waiver?)
  • snorkelling gear, fishing equipment or other water toys

How do I pay for optional extras?

Some extras are paid in advance when you book. More often, you pay for them directly at the base when you arrive, sometimes in cash. Your quote and booking confirmation show which is which. More: Where, when and how do I have to pay for extras?
