What is a transit log?

Updated 30 September 2026 · 1 min read

The transit log is a mandatory fee that many charter companies charge with the booking. It pays for a few services around your charter. What it includes depends on the charter company, but usually:

  • Final cleaning and inspection: the boat is cleaned and checked after you return it, ready for the next guests.
  • Mooring in the base marina: it often covers the marina berth on the first and last night of your charter.

Many charter companies now call this fee the charter fee, and it often also covers towels and bed linen. What it includes depends on the charter company; the boat's page lists it under extras and equipment.

The transit log is one of the mandatory extras. Where and when you pay it: What are mandatory extras? and Where, when and how do I have to pay for extras?
