Frequently Asked Questions: Kos Catamaran Rentals

Q: Why is a catamaran the best way to explore the Dodecanese from Kos?
Kos is a windy destination, especially during the summer Meltemi. A catamaran offers a stable and spacious platform that ensures a comfortable crossing to islands like Kalymnos and Nisyros, making it ideal for families and large groups.
How do I get to the catamaran base in Kos?
Most catamaran charters depart from Kos Marina, which is just a 25-minute drive from Kos International Airport (KGS). Taxis and shuttle transfers are easily available, allowing you to start your luxury holiday shortly after landing.
Can a catamaran visit the volcanic island of Nisyros?
Yes, a catamaran is the perfect vessel for a trip to Nisyros. Its stability makes the open-sea crossing smooth, and its shallow draft allows you to anchor easily near the volcanic hot springs or the charming harbor of Pali.
Is a skipper recommended for a catamaran charter in Kos?
While bareboat options are available for experienced sailors, a skippered catamaran is highly recommended. A professional captain can navigate the local wind patterns and take you to the most sheltered, turquoise bays around Pserimos and Leros.
What luxury amenities are typical on a Kos catamaran rental?
Luxury catamarans in Kos typically feature air-conditioned cabins, large trampolines for sunbathing, and modern galleys. They provide a "floating villa" experience that matches the high-end standards of the Dodecanese's premier marina.

Why Rent a Catamaran from Kos?

Stability in the Aegean: The Dodecanese experiences the strong Meltemi wind in July and August. A catamaran’s wide beam provides unmatched stability, meaning your boat stays flat while sailing and anchored. This ensures a comfortable, stress-free vacation for guests of all experience levels.

  • Shallow Draft Advantage: The islands around Kos feature beautiful, shallow bays and sandy beaches. A catamaran allows you to glide safely into shallower anchorages, giving you prime spots right off the beach.
  • The Ultimate Floating Villa: Whether you are dining on the aft deck beneath the medieval castle of Leros or watching the stars over the crater of Nisyros, a multihull provides a massive, open-plan living space that monohulls cannot match.
Captain’s Insider Tip: Book a Skipper “If you are renting a large catamaran and are unfamiliar with stern-to mooring in crosswinds, hiring a local Greek skipper in Kos is highly recommended. They will handle the winds perfectly and show you the best hidden spots!”
