When and how do I pay the security deposit?

Updated 30 September 2026 · 1 min read

You pay the security deposit to the charter company when you check in at the marina. In most cases the amount is blocked on your credit card (Mastercard or Visa) rather than charged, and released after check-out if there is no damage. Make sure your card limit covers the deposit.

Exceptions

  • A few charter companies only accept the deposit in cash. In that case you need the full amount in cash when you check in.
  • Some charter companies only accept payment in the local currency.

Both are rare, but worth knowing about before you arrive. Ask your booking agent or the charter company how your deposit is paid, so you have the right card or cash ready and check-in is not delayed.
