Split Catamaran Rental FAQ

How much are catamaran rentals in Split, Croatia?
A catamaran rental in Split typically starts at $3,800 per week for a 40ft model and can exceed $18,000 for a fully crewed luxury yacht. Be aware of the "Advanced Provisioning Allowance" (APA) required for crewed trips, which covers food, drinks, and fuel. American travelers should also budget for dockage fees, which are higher for cats than monohulls.
What certifications do I need for a bareboat catamaran in Split?
To sail yourself, you must present a valid license like ASA 104 (Bareboat Cruising) or US Sailing Bareboat Pro, along with a VHF Radio Operator Permit. If you aren't comfortable docking a wide-beam boat in crowded Mediterranean marinas, we highly recommend hiring a professional local captain.
Is it easy to get from Split Airport to the catamaran marinas?
Yes, Split Airport (SPU) is located just 15-20 minutes from Marina Kaštela and 40 minutes from ACI Marina Split. Private transfers or Ubers are the most efficient way to reach your boat with luggage. Most charters begin on Saturday afternoon.
Why choose a catamaran over a sailboat for a Split vacation?
Stability and space. A catamaran does not "heel" (tilt) under sail, making it the best choice for families or guests who get seasick. The large trampoline areas on the bow are perfect for sunbathing while island-hopping to Hvar or the Blue Lagoon on Drvenik Veli.

Catamaran Rentals in Split: The Best Way to See Croatia

Split is the yachting capital of Croatia, and for good reason. Renting a catamaran in Split is the smartest way to vacation for families and groups of friends. Starting here puts you less than an hour from the airport and right on the doorstep of the famous Dalmatian islands. The stability and massive deck space of a catamaran make it feel like a floating villa.

Why Choose a Catamaran in Split?

Space to Relax: Our modern catamaran fleet in Split offers nearly double the living area of a sailboat. With four private staterooms and a large central salon, everyone has their own space.

  • Access to Shallow Bays: With shallow drafts, you can anchor closer to the beaches on Hvar and Vis than other boats.
  • Stable Cruising: No heeling (tipping) over. Your coffee stays in the cup, and your kids stay safe and comfortable while you cruise the Adriatic.
  • Huge Inventory: Split offers the largest selection of catamarans in the Mediterranean, giving you more choices for layout and budget.
Captain's Insider Tip: "If you are chartering in July or August, avoid trying to dock directly in Hvar Town harbor—it's too small for large cats. Instead, reserve a spot at ACI Marina Palmižana just across the water. It's safer, quieter, and water taxis run all night to the Hvar nightlife."

Top-Rated Catamarans in Split

We feature the newest models from top manufacturers like Lagoon and Bali. Here are three client favorites:

  • Bali Catspace: A game-changer for layout. The back wall lifts up like a garage door to connect the inside and outside, and the solid front deck adds a huge amount of sunbathing space.
  • Lagoon 42: The global bestseller. Easy to sail and incredibly comfortable, it is the perfect size for two families or four couples sharing a charter.
  • Lagoon 55: The pinnacle of luxury. Featuring a massive flybridge and premium finishes, this yacht is ideal for a skippered vacation where comfort is the priority.

Logistics & Marina Fees

Budgeting for Docking: Because catamarans take up two spots, marinas charge 50-80% more. Expect to pay €150-€250 per night in premium locations during high season. To save money, drop anchor in beautiful free bays like Tiha on Šolta and dinghy ashore for dinner.
